You may have noticed by now that we have a pretty colorful collection of blemish patches. But, they aren’t just different in color. Some of our patches have added ingredients and some come in different shapes for different purposes.

If you’ve dealt with acne growing up and it has followed you into your adult life, then you’ve likely been faced with a couple different kinds of pimples. Not all pimples are the same. Some pop up close to the surface and don’t look too bad while others occur deep in the skin and can be painful.

So, it stands to reason that you can’t really use the same treatment for acne across the board. For instance, when it comes to a surface pimple, you wouldn’t use a microneedle patch since the gunk is already pretty close to the surface. In this case a regular blemish patch will do the trick.

But, a regular blemish patch might not work for the pimples that are deep in the skin. These types of stubborn spots need a little extra to treat them.

And that’s why we created a collection of blemish patches to help with different types of pimples. Take our original Blemish Patch and Extra Strength Blemish Patch as an example. These two blemish patches may look pretty similar but they are meant for different types of pimples.

So what sets these two apart?

Blemish Patch

Our original Blemish Patch is best suited for surface pimples. These are the types of pimples that don’t usually get too inflamed and have all the gunk close to the surface, otherwise known as whiteheads.

These types of pimples are tempting to pop since all the gunk is sitting on the surface. But, while they may look poppable that doesn’t mean that popping your pimples should be your main way of getting rid of the spot.

Instead, you can patch up the surface pimple with our Blemish Patch. Our Blemish Patch is made with Hydrocolloid to help catch the excess oil and dead skin that makes up the gunk in a pimple. It also has the added benefit of protecting the pimple from dirt, grime, and other outside elements that could potentially make the pimple worse.

The patch works over the course of 6 to 8 hours by absorbing the pimple gunk close to the surface of the pimple. By absorbing the gunk, the blemish patch helps shrink the size of the spot and helps prevent it from getting worse.

Extra Strength Blemish Patch

Moving on to the Extra Strength Blemish Patch, this patch is best suited for stubborn pimples. These are the types of pimples that may not always have visible gunk on the surface of the pimple and may be persistent.

These pimples are also known as blind pimples, given that the pimple typically pops up beneath the surface of the skin. In this case the built up dead skin, bacteria, and excess sebum is trapped deep in the pore so the gunk is not right on the surface as they are for whiteheads.

Trying to pop a blind pimple can only make the situation worse. Since the gunk is trapped deep in the skin, trying to pop the pimple is not really going to accomplish anything. In fact, it may end up pushing the gunk deeper in the skin making the spot more inflamed and painful.

You can patch up and shrink blind pimples with our Extra Strength Blemish Patch. The Extra Strength Blemish Patch is made with Hydrocolloid and has Salicylic Acid added to best help with these types of pimples. Salicylic Acid helps by flushing out the gunk trapped in pores to help clear up breakouts. So, as the Salicylic Acid helps decongest pores, the Hydrocolloid helps capture all the icky stuff trapped in a blind pimple.

So how do I know which one to use?

To figure out which patch is best for you, you first have to figure out what your pimple is. Is it a simple whitehead with little to no inflammation and with gunk visible near the surface of the skin? Or, does it look more like a red, inflamed bump with no visible gunk?

If it’s the first kind then you are better off using our original Blemish Patch to help extract the pimple gunk. But, if it’s the second kind then you can use the Extra Strength Blemish Patch to help minimize the blind pimple with the added power of Salicylic Acid.
