With our pretty extensive line of blemish patches, it’s understandable that there are some questions about our patches. Like, how long are you supposed to keep them on? Or, what kind of pimple can you use each patch for?

We gathered some of your most asked questions and created this nifty FAQ source:

FAQs:

#1. How is the Extra Strength Blemish Patch different from the Blemish Patch?

While both patches are made of hydrocolloid and help suck out the gunk from pimples, the Extra Strength Blemish Patch is a little different in that it includes Salicylic Acid. That’s where the “Extra Strength” in Extra Strength Blemish Patch comes in. As an exfoliant, Salicylic Acid helps flush out dead skin and oil trapped in pores to better help minimize stubborn pimples.

So, if you are dealing with a pretty bad blind pimple (the kind of pimple with no visible whitehead), then you can try out the Extra Strength Blemish Patch for that little extra punch of Salicylic Acid.

#2. Can you use the patches on oily skin (and will they stay on)?

If you’ve ever applied a patch directly to your skin, without cleansing and drying the skin first then you may have noticed that patch doesn’t seem to stay on long. The blemish patches are meant to be applied after cleansing and drying the skin so the patch adheres well to the skin.

But, if you need to apply a patch while you’re out and about, you can simply take a small piece of tissue, dampen it with a bit of water, clean the area surrounding your pimple, and then apply the patch once the skin is dry.

The blemish patches will also still work for oily skin types as long as you make sure to cleanse and dry the skin before applying the patch.

#3. How long can you leave the blemish patches on for?

For most of our blemish patches, you can leave them on for 6 to 8 hours. And, if necessary you can apply another patch right after if the pimple has not yet cleared up.

But, for the Dark Spot Brightening Patch, we recommend using it for 6 to 10 hours and applying one patch about every other day until the dark spot begins to fade.

#4. Why is my pimple still there after I remove my patch?

Depending on the pimple, sometimes it may take more than one patch to help the pimple go away or for the patch to suck up the gunk.

For example, If you apply a patch to a new pimple, and the gunk isn’t quite at the surface yet, then it may take more than one patch to help the spot diminish. In this case, it helps to apply a patch while the pimple is barely forming to help protect it from external irritants and from your picky fingers. Once you remove the patch and you see the white gunk has finally come to the surface then you can apply another patch to help pull that out.

#5. How long does it take the Dark Spot Brightening Patch to work?

Since everyone’s skin is different, the Dark Spot Brightening Patch may work differently. Plus, depending on the age of the dark spot, it may take a bit longer for the spot to fade. While one person may see a spot fade in as little as 2 days, it may not be the same for everyone.

But, generally we recommend using the Dark Spot Brightening Patch 2 to 3 times a week (roughly one patch every other night) for at least 2 weeks, until you notice the dark spot fade. The patch comes with over 165 microneedles and is infused with brightening ingredients like 2% Niacinamide and Green Tea Extract to help fade the look of dark spots, acne scars, and sun spots.
